ORANGE COU f T <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Board of County Commissioners <br /> Bonnie Hammersley, Orange County Manager <br /> Travis Myren, Orange County Deputy Manager <br /> FROM: Cy Stober, Planning & Inspections Director <br /> CC: All Planning Staff <br /> DATE: October 3, 2022 <br /> SUBJECT: Changes to Planning Board & Board of Adjustment Meetings <br /> In order to provide for better public accessibility and support board and staff needs, the <br /> Planning Director has recommended changes for both the Planning Board and Board of <br /> Adjustment meetings. The changes are intended to allow for more formal staff presentations <br /> to the Board, better communication among board members, more public seating, and generally <br /> a more formal meeting setting befitting the advisory nature of the Planning Board and the <br /> authoritative role of the Board of Adjustment in land use and planning matters. <br /> The Planning Board will now hold all meetings at the meeting chambers of the Whitted Building <br /> rather than Room 204 of the West Campus Office Building. The meetings date schedule will <br /> remain unchanged: the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. <br /> The Board of Adjustment will continue to meet at the Whitted Building meeting chambers but <br /> the standing meeting date is recommended to be changed from the second Monday of every <br /> month to the second Wednesday of every month. This should eliminate scheduling conflicts <br /> with other Orange County boards. Altering the meeting schedule for the Board of Adjustment <br /> will require amendment of their Rules of Procedure, which is an agenda action item for their <br /> next meeting, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, November 9. <br /> Please communicate any feedback or questions to Cy Stober, Planning & Inspections Director <br /> (cstober(a�-orangecountync.gov). <br />
