One of those commissioners ultimately chose not to be a candidate for election <br />to the newly - configured seven - member board. <br />Orange County staff will be glad to provide contact information for two current <br />Edgecombe County Commissioners who were also members prior to the method of <br />election transition. <br />Jackson County <br />Contact Person: Lisa Lovedahl- Lehman, Board of Elections Director <br />Prior to 1996, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners was comprised of three <br />members, all elected on an At -Large basis. That year, the Board expanded to five <br />members and the method for electing commissioners changed to the District/At -Large <br />method whereby one commissioner resides in each of the five Commissioner districts and <br />all five commissioners are elected by all the voters of the county, <br />There was no information available on the impetus for the changes in election for the <br />Jackson County Board of Commissioners and there are no current commissioners on the <br />Board who were also commissioners at the time of the changes. <br />Northampton Coun <br />Contact Person: Tonya Pitts, Board of Elections Director <br />The five members of the Northampton County Board of Commissioners are elected using <br />the District/At -Large method of election whereby one commissioner resides in each of <br />the five Commissioner districts and all five commissioners are elected by all the voters of <br />the county. <br />This method of election has been utilized for many years and there was no information on <br />any previous or current discussions to change this method. <br />
