Is the person in
charge of this
program or project
different from the
Authorizing Official?
No
W hat are you
requesting funding
for?
A specific program or project
Project/Program
Summary
This grant proposal is to help bring in 3 arts ev ents for the students
at Ephesus Elementary.
ONE: W e are hoping to bring in local theatre artist/writer Mike W iley to
perform his original piece, "Tired Souls: The Montgomery Bus
Boycott" which examines the Rosa Parks boycott through a theatrical
lease. This piece is for 3rd -5th graders and has a multitude of history
curriculum parallels for the students.
TW O: W e'd like to bring in is Number Drummer, which is North
Carolinian percussionist/artist Troy Kryzalka. His program consists of
interactiv e percussion and rhythm explorations that tie in math
curriculum for all grades. W e hope to bring him in for two
performances (one for K-2nd graders and one for 3rd-5th graders).
Each program is tapered to the age group.
THREE: W e'd like to bring in a theatre performance of "A Sick Day for
Amos McGee" from Children's Theatre of Charlotte for grades K-2nd.
This is based on the Caldecott awarded book and explores kindness
and empathy. It is part of the theatre company's The Kindness
Project initiativ e which seeks and commissions original work
grounded in displaying kindness towards others.
Here is a financial breakdown for each artist we are hoping to bring
in:
Mike W iley - $1250.00
Number Drummer - $1195.00 (two performances)
Children's Theatre of Charlotte - $1450
TOTAL: $3895.00
Project Start Date
(no earlier than July
1, 2022)
September 10, 2022
Project End Date (no
later than June 30,
2023)
May 31, 2023
Project Goals Our goal is to enrich the students perspectiv es on the arts, while
prov iding creativ e links to current curriculum they are studying in the
classrooms. W e hope to prov ide arts programs that are inclusiv e
and explore the div ersities in our community and world.
DocuSign Envelope ID: E7F30E51-08F8-4483-84D9-D991CC281E6E
