Project Goals -Bring in an accomplished Black conductor to work with high school <br />choral students, through workshops and choral concerts <br />-Bring the choral groups of the three Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School <br />High Schools together for a combined concert that celebrates Black <br />music and culture <br />-Open doors to celebrate Black culture through choral music, <br />especially among our high school students <br />Audience Description The audience for the workshops with Dr. Dilworth will be high school <br />students (Grades 9-12) who take chorus as an electiv e. W e anticipate <br />that the audience for the choral concert will be students, staff, <br />families, and other community members from across the District. <br />Location Description The workshops and concerts will take place at Chapel Hill High <br />School. CHHS has its own auditorium and ample parking for the <br />performances. <br />Artist Description Rollo A. Dilworth is Professor of Music and Director of Choral <br />Activ ities and Music Education at the North Park Univ ersity School of <br />Music in Chicago, Illinois. He also serv es as director of the Music <br />Institute of Chicago Children's Choir. In 2003, the Univ ersity awarded <br />Dilworth with the prestigious Zenos Hawkinson Award for Teaching <br />Excellence and Campus Leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Science <br />degree in Music Education from Case W estern Reserv e Univ ersity, <br />and a Master of Education Degree in Secondary Education from the <br />Univ ersity of Missouri-St. Louis, where he studied composition and <br />choral music with Robert Ray. He receiv ed the Doctor of Music <br />degree in conducting performance at Northwestern Univ ersity where <br />he studied conducting and composition with Robert A.
