Cirruculum and <br />Enrichment <br />Carrboro Elementary adheres to the North Carolina Standard Course <br />of Study for guidance in curriculum standards and all of the artists <br />we hav e chosen align closely with our curriculum objectiv es. For <br />example, an essential outcome in the State arts curriculum is K.CR.1 <br />Understand global, interdisciplinary, and 21st century connections <br />with music. The Beast embodies this objectiv e through performances <br />that engage kids in creativ ity, improv isation and the history of <br />African-American music. <br />The Number Drummer performance will tie in with the NC Math <br />Standards curriculum by demonstrating the connection between <br />music and math and giv ing children the chance to play an instrument <br />and activ ely participate in both learning and producing music at the <br />same time. <br />The Curious Theater Collection’s “Creekside: The Journey of a <br />Young Env ironmentalist”, incorporates learning of ecosystems and <br />waterways, civ ic responsibility and stewardship and celebrates Nativ e <br />American history, women’s history in science, and env ironmental <br />activ ism. <br />Audience Description 536 total students (2021-2022 school year) - total number and <br />percentage of school population <br />W hite: 287, 54% <br />Black: 28, .05% <br />Hispanic: 167, 31% <br />Asian: 25, .03% <br />American Indian: 1, .006% <br />Multi: 28, 18 % <br />Male: 275, 51% <br />Female: 261, 49% <br />ESL: 160, 20 % <br />Free & Reduced Lunch - 33% <br />Location Description All shows will take place in Carrboro Elementary School's school <br />auditorium.
