Fikes, ext 2490 <br /> Bid Results <br /> Work Specifications TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br /> Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> Mebane 336-227-2031 <br /> PURPOSE: To award two housing rehabilitation contracts for the CDBG Housing Rehabilitation <br /> Program. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids from <br /> qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating in the County's Housing Rehabilitation <br /> Program. The informal bidding process is governed by the North Carolina General Statues <br /> §143-131 and does not require a minimum number of bids. Additionally, present program <br /> procedures provide that housing rehabilitation contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible <br /> bidder. Additionally, all contractors participating in the County's Rehabilitation Program are <br /> required to utilize current deconstruction and material recycling methods during the repair <br /> process. <br /> Sealed bids were solicited from participating contractors on March 11, 2002. Bid results are <br /> attached. Three bids were received for each unit with Taylor Home Improvements submitting <br /> the lowest bid for each dwelling unit. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The CDBG Program provides funding for this program. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends awarding the following housing <br /> rehabilitation contract: <br /> Dwelling Unit Bid Amount Contractor <br /> 211 Barnes Street, Carrboro $14,625 Taylor Home Improvements <br /> 701 Shannon Drive, Chapel Hill $14,875 Taylor Home Improvements <br />
