Artist Description NC AIA’s Executiv e Director, Marlon Torres, ov ersees the program in <br />all schools. As former principal dancer of the international modern <br />dance company Galumpha, Marlon created and performed award- <br />winning choreography showcased around the world. His work as a <br />Planner, Trainer, and Dev eloper of Project Management Concepts <br />through Body Mov ement receiv ed the 2014 Platinum Award from the <br />NC Project Management Institute. He holds an MBA in marketing from <br />the Univ ersity of Leicester in the UK and earned a B.A. in theatre and <br />dance from Binghamton Univ ersity. Marlon is Hispanic. <br />Musical Director Doug Largent is a Carrboro, NC-based music <br />director, double bassist, jazz organist and pianist. After earning his <br />degree at UNC-Chapel Hill, Doug worked in New York City as a <br />freelance musician at jazz clubs such as The Blue Note, Smalls, and <br />the Jazz Standard. As a studio musician, he contributed to hundreds <br />of projects, including Emmy-winning children's programs W onder <br />Pets, Sesame Street, and Third and Bird. After mov ing back to NC in <br />2010, Doug has played in productions at NC Theater, Burning Coal <br />Theater, and Raleigh Little Theater. He serv ed on the faculty of The <br />UNC Jazz W orkshop. His jazz group The Doug Largent Trio has <br />released fiv e albums. Doug plays organ and bass at Unity Church of <br />the Triangle and Cornerstone Presbyterian. He accompanies ballet <br />classes at Duke Univ ersity. Doug is a full-time employee of Arts in <br />Action. Doug is white. <br />Tiana Sutton is a dancer and choreographer who has been with NC <br />AIA for the past four years. She is a full-time NC AIA teaching artist, <br />and she also teaches hip hop at sev eral area schools and is trained <br />in the NDI methodology. Tiana is African American. <br />Suzi Landis is Suzi Landis is a Artistic Director of NC Arts I Action. A <br />graduate of Appalachian State Univ ersity where she receiv ed a BA in <br />Communications and a minor in Dance, Suzi she has been a <br />Teaching Artist with NC AIA for 7 years. Suzi was fortunate to train <br />with the late Jacques d'Amboise, founder of NDI. In addition, she has <br />trained in the NDI pedagogy with NDI’s Artistic Director Kay Gaynor, <br />with NDI’s Artistic Director Emerita Ellen W einstein, and with NDI’s <br />Artistic Associate Tracy Straus. Suzi is a certified Grade II Cechetti <br />teacher and has more than 20 years of experience teaching ballet to <br />all ages.
