Has your
organization
undergone any
Diversity, Equity, and
Inclusion (DEI)
training? If so,
please explain. If not,
please explain any
barriers that have
prevented you from
receiving this
training.
NC AIA has examined our own practices and committed to actions
that address systemic bias and anti-racism in our structure and
programming. W e also held a Div ersity, Equity and Inclusion
workshop for all staff and board members last year, and three board
members participated in additional training through the Executiv e
Corps of the Triangle and the Triangle Community Foundation.
NC AIA is guided by our belief that all children deserv e the
opportunity to succeed in life. Equity, div ersity and inclusion are the
cornerstones of our work. W e stand with our Black, Latino, Asian and
Multi-Cultural families, and demand that systems of racial inequities,
which oppress and traumatize communities of color in our country,
be corrected. Arts and education are key parts of the solutions to
ov ercoming inequality. W hen children are giv en the same support
and tools for growth and achiev ement, are taught to honor div ersity,
and are giv en models of integrity and inclusion to look up to, they
discov er their own potential and respect the potential of those
around them.
NC AIA prioritizes education on Equity, Div ersity and Inclusion within
our organization with support from experts in the field. W e want to
help our students, staff and board be an activ e part of the solution to
our problems in inequalities. One of our goals at NC AIA is to hav e
organizational leaders that reflect the population we serv e. For
example, our Executiv e Director is Latino and our Senior Teaching
Artist is African American. W e look for both div ersity and talent when
we fill in important roles within our organization. Our Dev elopment
Director is Southeast Indian and our Project Manager, who directs
our afterschool program is also African American. At NC AIA we also
focus on the fair treatment of ev eryone regardless of race to create
equitable opportunities and outcomes for all. W e track this goal by
making sure that as an organization we reflect the population we
serv e and we make it a priority to hear and include people of color as
aspects of our organizational decisions.
During FY22-23, will
your organization
receive operational
support funding from
the North Carolina
Arts Council or the
North Carolina
Department of
Natural and Cultural
Resources?
No
Organization's EIN 203029784.0
Organization
W ebsite
https:// www.ncartsinaction. org
Authorizing Official's
Name
Marlon Torres
DocuSign Envelope ID: 375CB681-DA09-4299-B189-020A0CE5EBE5
