In response, Orange County, UNC, and the towns of Carrboro, <br /> Hillsborough, and Chapel Hill are coordinating on an initiative to identify areas <br /> within the county that are well suited for new public electric vehicle charging <br /> stations. <br /> Based on a model shared by the City of Raleigh and using local data inputs, a <br /> screening tool (interactive map) is being developed to identify key areas within <br /> each community that can be further vetted by property owners to help inform <br /> where new level 2 electric vehicle charging stations should go. The tool will be <br /> finalized and shared over the next couple of months. <br /> Examples of these key, high-impact areas include destinations like downtowns, <br /> public parks, and shopping centers. This timely initiative proactively identifies <br /> locations where new federal and state funding can be utilized to implement more <br />
