She also said she has been doing facilitation for a long time. In <br /> 4 addition to the opportunities through the School of Government for commissioners, she shared <br /> 5 that there are also professional opportunities for staff in county government. <br /> Today We Intend to; <br /> A. To strengthen relationships and begin building a high performing board <br /> by considering what elements would help this board perform at their <br /> best. <br /> Develop a set of operating principles and behavioral changes that help <br /> guide how the council wants to work together and with senior staff <br /> (see handout)[Deliverable] <br /> 8 To explore how"Article 46� proceeds could be reallocated <br /> Identify the process by which the decision for reallocation would be <br /> made, [Deliverable] <br /> C To review progress towards the county's goals,consider whether <br /> changes are needed, and hear about best practices in strategic <br /> planning. <br /> Create list of reaffirmed andfor up-to-date goals. [Deliverable] <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Lydian Altman said that these were the three big topics for today's retreat, but they <br /> 8 would be addressed in a different order. She said the primary goal is to discuss strengthening <br /> 9 relationships. She said when the retreat planning first began, the Board was not meeting in <br /> 10 person and the planning committee wanted to discuss how the Board can operate better <br /> 11 together, become a high-performing Board, and govern the most efficiently and effectively. <br /> 12 Lydian Altman said the intention behind the Article 46 proceeds discussion is not to get <br /> 13 down into the details as much as what are the criteria if the Board would like to make changes. <br /> 14 Lydian Altman said reviewing the Board's goals will be in between the other discussions. <br /> 15 She said there are many different goals from previous Boards, and this is an opportunity to <br />
