Approve a proclamation designating September 2022 as Suicide Prevention Month <br /> in Orange County; and <br /> 2. Promote the upcoming Suicide Prevention & Awareness Walk "Path for Hope" <br /> scheduled for Thursday, September 29, 2022, 6:30pm — 8pm, Leigh Farm Park <br /> located at 370 Leigh Farm Road, Durham, NC 27707, just north of NC 54 at the I- <br /> 40 Intersection. <br /> BACKGROUND: This month recognizes suicide as a serious public health problem that can have <br /> long-lasting effects on individuals, families and communities. Everyone also recognizes that <br /> suicide is preventable and that everyone can help by learning the warning signs, promoting <br /> prevention and resilience and making necessary social changes. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with consideration of the <br /> proclamation. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated <br /> with consideration of the proclamation. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact associated with consideration of the proclamation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the <br /> Chair to sign the attached proclamation recognizing September 2022 as Suicide Prevention <br /> Month in Orange County. <br />
