Community Impact My journey on local, national and ev en internal platforms has giv en me <br />tools I would like to share with other artist and the community. Through <br />conv ersations with Katie Murray, I learned that many artists struggle with <br />self-promotion and that skills that I use to market myself can inspire other <br />artists. Katie suggested that sharing my story and tips would be helpful for <br />others to hear. <br />During my Q&A session, I would like to discuss how v ideography, graphic <br />design tools, social media, building your portfolio and local resources are <br />key to building yourself as a national, if not international. brand. <br />Artist Experience As I AM SOTERIA, I hav e been using art of all forms to bring communities <br />together to combat hate, bias and injustice of all kinds. My collaborations <br />are made to create awareness of what it means to be courageous in this <br />time. My art seeks to fully bring people closer to their destinies! <br />In 2019, I started “I AM SOTERIA & Friends.” This mov ement was created to <br />bring injustice and racism to light, and create transformation in the midst of <br />all the turmoil that is happening and that has happened. I inv ite local artists <br />to my platforms to share their artistic gifts with communities to be the light. <br />Since the v ery first ev ent on February 3, 2019, I hav e hosted 8 I AM <br />SOTERIA & Friends ev ents. <br />• I AM SOTERIA & FRIENDS: Lov e’s Best Language: Music in Saxapahaw by <br />the Riv er <br />• I AM SOTERIA & FRIENDS: Juneteenth Redefining Freedom at the Culture <br />Mill <br />• I AM SOTERIA & FRIENDS: Coffee Shop Hip-Hop at Johnny’s Gone Fishing <br />• I AM SOTERIA & FRIENDS: Black Friday at the Haw Riv er Ballroom <br />• I AM SOTERIA & FRIENDS: Turning the Tables (5 Renditions, including <br />partnerships with Town of Carrboro, Town of Chapel Hill, and Orange <br />County Schools. I am thankful to Orange County Arts Commission for <br />funding multiple of these renditions, the latest being the collaboration with <br />Orange County Schools.
