Easley, Governor of North Carolina, has proclaimed the week of <br /> April 14 through 20, 2002, as Public Safety Telecommunicators' Week in North Carolina, in <br /> recognition of the telecommunicators that work in emergency dispatch centers serving the <br /> citizens of this state. Two national organizations also recognize and proclaim this week on <br /> behalf of telecommunicators nationwide. Those organizations are the Association of Public <br /> Safety Communications Officials and the National Emergency Numbers Association. <br /> Telecommunicators in Orange County are active in both organizations, working toward <br /> enhancing the quality of service that communications centers provide. <br /> Orange County's communications center provides 9-1-1 service to all citizens in the County and <br /> dispatches the appropriate emergency services and law enforcement in time of need. <br /> Orange County's telecommunicators are among the highest trained in the state. <br /> Telecommunicators provide a valuable service to the citizens and make Orange County a safer <br /> place to live. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. <br /> RECOMMEND T ION(S): The Manager recommenuo ii hat the Board adopt the Proclamation <br /> and authorize the Chair to sign it. <br />
