Agency’s Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences):

PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro fights hunger by mobilizing our neighbors to provide non-
perishable and fresh food for families, schools, and pantries.

Our monthly food drives collect food and funds to support many initiatives, including:
• ensuring our local food pantries are well-stocked with non-perishable food;
• distributing fresh food and grocery gift cards directly into the hands of families with
children in the public schools identified as food insecure;
• creating and stocking pantries with healthy snacks in each of the 20 public schools
and the community’s after-school programs;
• providing emergency food support to community social service agencies during
COVID-19, and
• creating more public awareness about the severity of hunger in the community, and
the benefits of fresh food consumption.

3. Please provide a brief description of your organization’s past achievements in carrying out similar
projects and evidence of successful record of meeting proposed budgets and timetables (no more than
100 words).

Since 2010, PORCH’s Food for Families program has grown, serving over 500 families
(2135 individuals) living in poverty in our community at its peak in 2021. FFF has received
Outside Agency funding for the past six years and has met all its performance measures
each year, successfully delivering fresh food according to budget that is consumed by our
enrolled families.

FFF expanded enrollment during the pandemic, and we anticipate continued significant
need.
