AGENCY INFORMATION <br /> <br />Please provide the following information about your agency: <br /> <br />1.Date of Incorporation (Month/Year) : October 2010 <br /> <br />2.Agency’s Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences): <br /> <br />The Community Empowerment Fund (CEF) cultivates opportunities, assets, and <br />communities that support the alleviation of homelessness and poverty. CEF supports <br />individuals, or “Members,” experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity to secure <br />housing, gain employment, connect to supportive resources, and build financial <br />well-being. Our approach combines person-centered support with financial services that <br />pursue equity in order to reduce the racial wealth gap. <br /> <br />3.Please provide a brief description of your organization’s past achievements in <br />carrying out similar projects and evidence of successful record of meeting <br />proposed budgets and timetables ( no more than 100 words). <br /> <br />Since 2009, CEF has supported Orange County residents experiencing homelessness <br />and housing insecurity. Through our tools, 1,286 CEF Members have secured <br />employment, 1044 have gained housing, 37 have become first-time homeowners, and <br />880 have saved $1.5 million dollars. CEF has received funding from Orange County and <br />the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro since 2013, and we have always met budgets <br />and provided timely reports. CEF has also been funded by many other government and <br />private funders, including the City of Durham, Durham County, Duke University, <br />UNC-Chapel Hill, Oak Foundation, Triangle Community Foundation, and others. <br /> <br />4.Living Wage: Does this agency pay permanent employees a minimum living <br />wage ?
