Please note that this letter was postmarked to us on
February 16,2022. I apologize for not submitting our exemption by the deadline, and I would like to
formally request an appeal of the decision denying tax exemption for this property.
As you are aware, this property was previously exempt under N.C. Gen. Stat. §105.278.3 as property for
Religious Use. The transfer by Non-Warranty Deed was recorded on September 15, 2021, Book 6745,
Page 710-712,transferring the property from Luis R. Zarama,Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of
Raleigh,to Mary,Mother of the Church Catholic Parish of Chapel Hill, a North Carolina non-profit
corporation(see attached deed). It is also important to note that this new entity has a sole member, that
being Luis R. Zarama,Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh. The property remains in use as
a church, and therefore should continue to be exempt pursuant to the above-cited statute.
Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely yours,
Acle G, /ot.&Pla, ///
Frank L.
