She said that currently, the county has about <br /> 10 a $175 million liability. She said rating agencies ask how the county is doing with funding <br /> 11 liabilities. She said that currently, the county has about $7 million in a fund that goes towards <br /> 12 that liability. She said staff was working on putting together a plan that would reduce the <br /> 13 liability. <br /> 14 Commissioner Fowler asked if it is correct that the county has $7 million and that the <br /> 15 county is trying to get to $170 million. <br /> 16 Bonnie Hammersley said that the county will never get to $170 million. She said Orange <br /> 17 County is a "pay as you go" county for liabilities. She said that in the southeast it is not as <br /> 18 concerning as it is in places like Michigan. She said there are cities and counties that have <br /> 19 gone bankrupt and cannot pay retirements. She said as the county goes to rating agencies, it <br />
