Draft design for new Zoning meeting sign B. Draft design for new Board of Adjustment public hearing sign C. Draft design for new Subdivision meeting sign BACKGROUND: Requests have been made to realize new public meeting signs that will more directly inform the public of why a sign is being posted on a property and make the contact information clearer to motorists. These signs are to be used for Neighborhood Information Meetings, Planning Board meetings, and public hearings before the Board of County Commissioners or the Board of Adjustment. Staff contacted Bull City Signs regarding this need and have drafts for three different signs: one will feature a "Z" for any Zoning actions, notably rezoning of a property; one will feature a "B" for a Board of Adjustment matter, including special use requests, appeals, and variances; and one will feature a "S" for subdivision requests, both major and minor, but not including exempt and expedited subdivisions, in accordance with NC General Statute 160D. Currently missing from the attached draft is a QR code that will direct the public to the correct Orange County webpage for further information about the proposed action; this is being developed by Orange County Information Technology staff. Staff believe that the drafted signs accomplish the goals of improved clarity on the proposed action, provided clearer staff contact information, and conforming with Orange County branding.
