21
1 Bonnie Hammersley said the peer support training for youth is the Reintegration Network
2 and they are new this year. She said they will be evaluated again next year to review the work
3 they have done.
4
5 Slide #17
F 20 2-23 RECOMMENDED BUDGET
OUTSIDE AGENCIES
Social Services
Awi3rded 11=M1 Raeommend Score
Childcarervir;es $0 $35.000 $0 32
Assoc
Interfaith Counch $250,000 $375:000 $731,750 87
OC Dlsabliity $8,513 $30,000 $22,500 86
Awareness Council
Orange County $16,145 $20;000 $15;000 81
Literacy Council
The Exchange Club $,14,252 $147263 $14.263 81
TOM- rS333A13
ORANGE COUNTY
1 OF:T0[CAROLINA
6
7 Bonnie Hammersley said childcare services are provided through the county with no
8 waitlist, so this is one reason they do not receive funding. She said that the IFC is continuing to
9 run the shelter and keep it going while dealing with all of the compounding issues from the
10 pandemic and that they are a very strong partner.
11 Commissioner Bedford asked for an update on the request from IFC for an interlocal
12 agreement about the shelter.
13 Bonnie Hammersley said once the towns agree if they want to move forward with it, she
14 will bring it to the Board. She said that it is similar to when CHT started and the IFC is providing
15 the only shelter in town. She said that the interlocal agreement would not include the food
16 pantry and it would just be for the shelter. She said once the towns agree, she will recommend
17 approval to the Board. She said the towns are hesitant because they think the county should
18 pay for all of it. She said that the amount the county funds for outside agencies is close to what
19 the county's portion would be in an interlocal agreement.
20 Bonnie Hammersley noted that there were three new applications submitted that were
21 not part of the presentation. She said that one is the Friends of the Mountains to Sea Trail. She
22 said they submitted an application for bridge building and capital, which is not an eligible use of
23 outside agency funding. She said there are funds in the capital budget to use for the trail so no
24 outside agency funds are being used at this time. She said that another is the Orange
25 Partnership, which focuses on increasing subscribers to the opioid and prescription drug abuse
26 advisory committee. She said that they have provided in-kind funds previously for them. She
27 said that there are opiate funds coming in that may assist. She said the third is the Oxford
28 House. She said that they provide housing for people reentering. She said the county provides
29 significant funding through emergency housing funds, so she did not think using outside agency
30 funds was appropriate.
