49 <br /> F. Commissioner Resolution <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ORANGE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AMERICANS <br /> WITH DISABILITIES ACT(ADA) PARATRANSIT PLAN <br /> WHEREAS,the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed by Congress and signed into law by the <br /> President in July 1990; and <br /> WHEREAS, the ADA prohibits discrimination against persons with disabilities in employment, housing <br /> and transportation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the ADA's intent is to ensure equal opportunity for persons with disabilities to access public <br /> accommodations, public services, telecommunications and transportation; and <br /> WHEREAS, to comply with the ADA, Orange County Transportation Services is required to provide <br /> paratransit service to those persons with disabilities who are unable to use or access the fixed-route <br /> transit system; and <br /> WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation and U.S. Department of Transportation <br /> require public transit operators providing fixed-route service to submit complementary paratransit plans <br /> and annual updates to the Federal Transit Administration; and <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County Transportation Services successfully expanded fixed-route service <br /> considerably necessitating a need to update and adopt its ADA paratransit plan with an updated service <br /> plan and service area. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of Commissioners that the Board <br /> approves and adopts the 2022 Orange County Transportation Services ADA Paratransit Plan. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Orange <br /> County Transportation Services to submit the 2022 Orange County ADA Paratransit Plan to the North <br /> Carolina Department of Transportation and Federal Transit Administration. <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner _ , seconded by Commissioner , the <br /> foregoing resolution was adopted this the 6t" day of September 2022. <br />
