inspectors have been designated as the lead inspector for two trades
each. They work with the Inspections staff on specific code issues that
need clarification, and publish the interpretation far future reference.
- Training - `Lunchtime' presentations are provided far contractors and
permit holders on engineered products, sealed crawlspaces, code
changes and the use of new products. This training helps to
strengthen the relationship between the builders and the Division, as
well as reduce the number of reinspections.
- Accessibility -The Inspections division receives aver 46,000 phone
calls annually, and provides reception for the Planning and Agriculture
building. Most of the calls are answered by two employees, and are
received between 8 - 9 am and between 3 - 5 pm. The volume of
phone and office traffic during this time compels many lines to be
placed on hold in order to meet all responsibilities.
In an effort to decrease the increasing phone traffic, Inspections staff
has added automated email through the Permits Plus software.
o Permit applicants are emailed when the permit is ready for pickup,
with associated fees.
o Results of the inspections done that day are emailed by 6 pm. An
average of 50 emails are sent each night.
o Search capabilities within the Orange County website allow viewing
of all permit activities and inspection results.
o All applications and brochures are located on the Orange County
webpage.
G:`,Comprehe~nsiva Fiat+ning DivH;iGPI G\2005 ftiolic Nearings\Aug 22 (Changed to W3)\Eui lding Activity\d%i22U5-Final doe 4
