Please describe any additional activities your organization is doing to
address racial equity.
In February 2020, senior staff members participated in “We Are” anti-racist training. In 2021,
TABLE attended a series of trainings for staff on respect, implicit bias, and
microaggressions with Duke’s Director of DEI. In 2022, we plan to hold learning
opportunities for staff specific to Burmese culture and Latinx migration issues. Some staff
are attending a February/March 2022 racial equity training, and we are also actively seeking
additional professional development opportunities about anti-racism to share with staff and
are open to recommendations. Furthermore, we have sought to ensure all outgoing
materials and communications to participating families, as well as family-centered events,
are in both English and Spanish and have contractors for Arabic and Burmese to break
down language barriers to food assistance.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
*Please submit for each program if applying for funding for more than one program.

6. Please briefly describe the proposed program, including an explanation of how it
aligns with the Town of Chapel Hill and Carrboro’s Results Framework, and Orange
County BOCC Goals and Priorities, and the target population to benefit from the
program. (250 words or less)
TABLE@Home, our main food access program, aligns directly with both the Chapel Hill-
Carrboro Framework and Orange County Goals/Priorities. We deliver healthy
nonperishables and fresh (often local & organic) produce to 730+ children’s (ages 1-18)
homes weekly. While many kids have been participating for years, we also served as a
safety net for many new families since March 2020. For both newer and long-term
participants, TABLE makes a tangible impact on their health and lives.
Our 2020 survey showed ~60% of our participating children (our target population)
experiencing “very low” or “low” food security, with Black households experiencing the most
insecurity. Overall, over 90% of participants are children of color and over half of our
participating children speak a language other than English at home. Furthermore, it showed
that COVID-19 decreased income for almost all families, already food insecure and low-
income.
Through TABLE@Home, these participants have a safety net, improved food security, and
also new and improved healthy behaviors and outcomes. Parents state statistics like:
• 90% say TABLE’s weekly food improved their child’s eating habits and that their child
eats more fruits/vegetables weekly
• 62% say without TABLE, their family ate less healthily to save money
EXHIBIT A: PROVIDER'S OUTSIDE AGENCY APPLICATION
DocuSign Envelope ID: 5334673A-3749-4438-A4C5-1C05EECD11F3
