CHAPEL HILL ORANGE COUNTY VISITORS BUREAU August 12, 2020 <br />308 WEST FRANKLIN, CHAPEL HILL, NC <br /> <br /> <br /> 06100-Carpentry-2 <br />3 Pressure treat wood framing in contact with masonry, concrete and sleepers, nailing <br />strips, etc., in concrete or masonry, and cant strips. Treatment shall be in accordance <br />with American Wood Preservers Association Specification C-2, "Pressure Treatment of <br />Lumber to be used in Buildings" with a retention of preservative not less than 0.30 <br />pounds per cubic foot. <br /> <br /> 4 Moisture content of framing lumber shall not exceed 19%. Lumber must be sound, <br />thoroughly seasoned, and free from warp that cannot be corrected. <br /> <br /> 5 Plywood shall be C-D Exterior Grade in thicknesses as indicated on the drawings. <br /> <br /> <br />06100-06 EXECUTION <br /> <br /> 1 Use only sound, thoroughly seasoned materials of the longest practical lengths and sizes. <br /> Minimize jointing. Do not incorporate into the work warped or defective materials that <br />would impair the quality of the work. Studs shall be continuous from sill to plate; no <br />splicing of studs. <br /> <br /> 2 Use common wire nails except as otherwise specified. Do not lubricate or wax friction <br />fasteners. Make connections tight. Install fasteners without splitting the wood; pre-drill <br />if required. <br /> <br /> 3 Attach carpentry work securely by anchoring and fastening as shown or specified and as <br />required by Table 2304.10.1 of the North Carolina State Building Code. Provide washers <br />when bolting at both head and nut. When nailing plywood, comply with <br />recommendations of the American Plywood Association. <br /> <br /> 4 Set carpentry work accurately to required levels, with members plumb and true and <br />accurately cut and fitted. <br /> <br /> 5 Provide necessary blocking, grounds, and nailers where required by other trades for the <br />secure installation of their work. Provide blocking in walls for accessories. Verify with <br />Architect the locations of all blocking. <br /> <br /> 6 Install anchors where required to anchor carpentry to masonry.
