CHAPEL HILL ORANGE COUNTY VISITORS BUREAU August 12, 2020 <br />308 WEST FRANKLIN, CHAPEL HILL, NC <br />WOOD FLOORING 096400 - 4 <br />3.02 PREPARATION <br /> <br />A. Acclimatization: Open flooring boxes and remove packing minimum 3 days prior to start of <br />installation. <br />B. Grind and fill subfloor using methods and materials appropriate to the subfloor construction to <br />eliminate humps and depressions exceeding 3/16 inch (5 mm) inch in 10 feet (3048 mm). <br /> <br />3.03 INSTALLATION <br /> <br />3.03.1 New and replacement wood flooring. <br /> <br />A. Flooring: Comply with manufacturer's installation instructions. <br /> <br />B. Adhesive: Comply with adhesive manufacturer's written instructions. <br /> <br />3.03.2 Existing Wood Flooring: <br /> <br />a. Clean existing wood floor thoroughly with non-abrasive cleaner with grease lifting capacity. <br />Confirm cleaning effectiveness on a small patch of floor in an obscure location. <br />b. <br /> <br />3.04 CLEANING: Reference Section 01 74 00: Cleaning and Waste Management <br /> <br />A. Repair or replace damaged installed products. <br />B. Clean installed products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions prior to Owner's ac- <br />ceptance. <br />2.2 ACCESSORY MATERIALS <br />A. Wood Underlayment:5/8” Plywood on top of 1/8” Acoustical material, TBD. <br />B. Vapor Retarder: ASTM D 4397, polyethylene sheet not less than 6.0 mils thick. <br />C. Wood Flooring Adhesive: Mastic recommended by flooring and adhesive manufacturers for <br />application indicated. <br />1. Use adhesives that have a VOC content of not more than 100 g/L when calculated <br />according to 40 CFR 59, Subpart D (EPA Method 24). <br />D. Trowelable Leveling and Patching Compound: Latex-modified, hydraulic-cement-based <br />formulation approved by wood flooring manufacturer. <br />E. Fasteners: As recommended by manufacturer, but not less than that recommended in NWFA's <br />"Installation Guidelines: Wood Flooring." <br />F. Cork Expansion Strip: Composition cork strip. <br />G. Trim: In same species and grade as wood flooring, unless otherwise indicated. <br />1.
