<br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />ORANGE UNIFIED TRANSPORTATION BOARD <br /> <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: August 17, 2022 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 4.c. <br />SUBJECT: OCTS – ADA Paratransit Plan <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT: Orange County Transportation Services <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />1. 2022 Revised ADA Plan <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Nishith Trivedi, Interim Orange County <br />Transportation Services Director and <br />Transportation Planner, <br />919-245-2582 <br /> <br /> <br />PURPOSE: Recommend Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approve the Orange <br />County Transportation Services (OCTS) American Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Plan <br />update. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Recent changes to the ADA Title II requires public transit agencies to extend complementary <br />ADA-accessible transit service to eligible persons within ¾-mile of any fixed route service. In <br />order to show compliance with this requirement, each system providing fixed-route service is <br />required to adopt an ADA Paratransit Plan detailing all transit services as well as the eligibility <br />certification process. <br /> <br />With recent improvements to Orange County public transit services, OCTS staff implemented <br />the following public process for the County’s ADA Paratransit Plan update. <br /> <br />• May 18, 2022 - OUTBoard receives initial item and comments on its public process <br />• July 20, 2022 – OUTBoard received revised plan and provides comments <br />• July 21, 2022 - Friday, August 19, 2022: 30-day public comment period <br />• August 17, 2022: OUTBoard makes recommendation on Updated 2022 ADA Paratransit <br />Plan <br />• September 6, 2022: BOCC conducts public hearing on Updated 2022 ADA Paratransit Plan <br />• September or October 2022: BOCC action <br /> <br />All public comments have been incorporated into the plan, see Appendix E, public comments <br />received. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: The Staff requests the OUTBoard recommend BOCC approve the <br />OCTS ADA Paratransit Plan. <br /> <br />5
