There is specific <br /> representation from various human service organizations, such as the Board of Social Services, <br /> Interfaith Council, Partnership for Young Children, and the United Way. Each spring the HSAC <br /> contributes to the review of the annual funding applications of non-profit groups submitted to the <br /> County. <br /> The HSAC is a planning and evaluative body responsible for making recommendations to the <br /> Board of Commissioners concerning human service programs. To meet this goal, the HSAC <br /> plans and coordinates an annual Forum, held in September, on a relevant human service issue. <br /> The HSAC takes the results of the Forum and develops specific recommendations to the Board <br /> of County Commissioners concerning how to improve human services in the community. <br /> Three members' terms will expire on March 31, 2002. They are: <br /> • Ms. Mary Bowe, representing the Orange County Board of Social Services, completing the <br /> unexpired term of Ms. Dee Gamble, Chair of Board of Social Services; <br /> Mr. Melvin Hurston, representing the Orange County Board-of Health; completing the <br /> unexpired term of Beverly Foster; <br /> Ms. Rosetta Wash, representing the Interfaith Council for Social Service, in her second year <br /> as Co-Chair of HSAC; serving a first term. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): Reappoint the following members each for a full term to expire <br /> March 31, 2005: Mary Bowe, representing the Board of Social Services; Melvin Hurston, <br /> representing the Orange County Board of Health; and Rosetta Wash, representing the Interfaith <br /> Council for Social Service. <br />
