<br />221423.3 – ROOF DRAINS <br /> <br />Project Manual for Whitted Building Roof Replacement <br />Orange County, Hillsborough, NC <br />Prepared by Atlas Engineering, Inc., 551-A Pylon Drive – Raleigh, NC 27606 <br />May 2022 <br /> <br />K. Fire Rated Sealant: Shall be a fire rated sealant to meet UL requirement to maintain existing firewall <br />rating. Similar to AC-20 FTR as manufactured by Pecora. To be used in conjunction with fire blocking <br />material. <br /> <br />L. Miscellaneous: Cast iron drain extension rings, domes, clamping rings. <br /> <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 INSTALLATION-GENERAL <br /> <br />A. Frame the deck opening for the new drain. <br /> <br />B. Core the existing wood roof deck to allow for installation of a new vertical drain line (Primary - 3″ <br />I.D., Secondary – 4″ I.D.), and transition to a (Primary - 3″ I.D., Secondary – 4″ I.D.), horizontal <br />drain line within the existing attic space. Core through the existing exterior masonry wall to allow <br />for the horizontal drain line to run from the interior attic space out to a copper conductor head and <br />downspout. <br /> <br />C. Contractor shall install pipes and accessories (Install drain bowl as required). Contractor shall be <br />responsible for cutting and repairing deck or gypsum ceiling. <br /> <br />D. Dimensions and locations on plans are approximations and should be field-verified by the Contractor <br />before proceeding with work. <br /> <br />E. Install new pipe and drains in accordance with membrane manufacturer's recommendations and detail <br />drawings. <br /> <br />F. Obtain hot work permit as applicable. <br /> <br />3.02 DRAINS AND PIPE <br /> <br />A. Install new pipes at location shown on the drawings. <br /> <br />B. If required, install new steel angle to support drain bowl in accordance with the American Institute of <br />Steel Construction (AISC) Specification for the Design, Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel <br />for Buildings and Bridges (latest edition), hereinafter referred to as the AISC Specification, and the <br />AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges (latest edition) shall govern the <br />work. Welding shall be in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS) Structural Welding <br />Code - Steel, D1.1-84, hereinafter referred to as the AWS Code. High-strength bolting shall be in <br />accordance with Research Council on Structural Connections (RCSC) Specifications for Structural <br />Joints Using ASTM A 325 or A 490 Bolts (latest edition). <br /> <br />C. Support drain piping with pipe hangers spaced at 10 feet maximum; provide minimum of two hangers <br />per length of pipe.
