<br />099113.2 – PAINTING <br /> <br />Project Manual for Whitted Building Roof Replacement <br />Orange County, Hillsborough, NC <br />Prepared by Atlas Engineering, Inc., 551-A Pylon Drive – Raleigh, NC 27606 <br />May 2022 <br /> <br /> <br />2.02 OTHER MATERIALS <br /> <br />A. Provide other materials, not specifically described but required for a complete and proper <br />installation, as selected by the Contractor subject to review of the Engineer. <br /> <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 SURFACE CONDITIONS <br /> <br />A. Examine the areas and conditions under which work of this section will be performed. Correct <br />conditions detrimental to timely and proper completion of the work. Do not proceed until <br />unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. <br /> <br />3.02 MATERIALS PREPARATION <br /> <br />A. Mix and prepare materials in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. When <br />materials are not in use, store in tightly covered containers. Maintain containers used in storage, <br />mixing, and application of paint in a clean condition, free from foreign materials and residue. <br /> <br />B. Stir materials before application, producing a mixture of uniform density. <br /> <br />3.03 SURFACE PREPARATION <br /> <br />A. Perform preparation and cleaning procedures in accordance with the manufacturer’s <br />recommendations. Provide protection for adjacent items and finishes that are not receiving coating. <br /> <br />B. Wire brush to remove any rust and surface corrosion prior to cleaning. Clean each surface to be <br />painted prior to paint application to remove previous roof system materials (sealants, flashing, <br />mastic, etc.). Schedule the cleaning and painting so that dust and other contaminants from <br />construction will not fall onto wet or newly coated surfaces. <br /> <br />3.04 FIELD TEST APPLICATION <br /> <br />A. Provide a test application of primer and finish coat on sample prior to proceeding with coating <br />work to verify adhesion. <br /> <br />B. Provide adhesion test in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. <br /> <br />C. Obtain approval from Engineer and Owner prior to proceeding with coating work. <br /> <br />3.05 INSTALLATION <br /> <br />A. General: Apply in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions, latest edition. <br /> <br />B. Drying: Allow sufficient drying time between coats, modifying the period as recommended by <br />the material manufacturer to suit adverse weather conditions. <br /> <br />C.
