<br />061140.4 – ROUGH CARPENTRY <br /> <br /> <br />Project Manual for Whitted Building Roof Replacement <br />Orange County, Hillsborough, NC <br />Prepared by Atlas Engineering, Inc., 551-A Pylon Drive – Raleigh, NC 27606 <br />May 2022 <br /> <br />E. Anchor new and existing perimeter nailers in accordance with FM Loss Prevention Data Sheet 1-49. <br />Anchors shall be countersunk to provide a flush finish. <br /> <br />F. Fasteners shall be positioned 6″ from each end and a maximum of 12″ on center and staggered 1/3 the <br />nailer width. Two fasteners shall be installed at ends of nailer lengths. Wood nailer pieces shall be no <br />less than 12″ in length and shall be secured with a minimum of two fasteners per piece. <br /> <br />G. All nailers shall finish flush with the insulation. <br /> <br />H. Install new wood materials true to line, level, plumb, and securely fastened to the approved substrate <br />with fastener type and fastening requirements as specified. <br /> <br />I. New wood nailers shall have a 1/4″ gap between each length. <br /> <br />J. Where new or raised wood curbs are to be installed, corners shall be formed by lapping side members <br />alternately. <br /> <br />3.03 WOOD DECK REPLACEMENT/REPAIR <br /> <br />A. Wood Deck Repair: Deteriorated or damaged areas greater than 2″ and less than 12″ square or <br />diameter or less shall be repaired with either 16 gauge steel sheet or two layers of 22 gauge metal. <br />Sheet shall be sized to extend a minimum of 6″ on all sides beyond the size of the deficient area. <br />Secure sheet to top of existing deck flange with fasteners, minimum 3 per side equally spaced. <br /> <br />B. Wood Deck Replacement: Deteriorated or damaged areas greater than 12″ square or diameter <br />shall be repaired with wood deck. Remove the existing deteriorated deck to span 2 beams. Report <br />deck to be replace to Engineer/Owner.
