<br /> 024110.1 – SELECTIVE DEMOLITION <br /> <br />Project Manual for Whitted Building Roof Replacement <br />Orange County, Hillsborough, NC <br />Prepared by Atlas Engineering, Inc., 551-A Pylon Drive – Raleigh, NC 27606 <br />May 2022 <br />SECTION 024110 <br /> <br />SELECTIVE DEMOLITION <br /> <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 WORK INCLUDED <br /> <br />A. Perform a Pre-Job Damage Survey prior to the start of work on-site including mobilization of <br />equipment, material delivery, and set-up of storage and staging areas. <br /> <br />B. Water test internal roof drains prior to the start of demolition for roof replacement to confirm that <br />they appear to be in working order (not clogged or damaged in a way that causes the back-up or <br />slow flow of draining water). Remove visible debris from the drain bowl and leader. Notify the <br />Designer and Owner if water testing indicates a blockage or damage beyond the visible portion of <br />the drain leaders. <br /> <br />C. Confirm working order of mechanical units located on the roof as a part of the Pre-Job Damage <br />Survey. <br /> <br />D. Provide labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to perform selective demolition, <br />which includes, but is not limited to the following: <br /> <br />a. Remove the existing modified bitumen roof membrane, insulation, flashings, edge metal, and <br />accessories down to the existing deck and dispose of off-site. Dispose of materials off-site unless <br />otherwise coordinated with the Owner. <br /> <br />b. If existing wood blocking is present and is damaged or deteriorated, repair/replace the blocking or <br />plywood in accordance with Section 061140. <br /> <br />c. Inspect the existing roof deck and make repairs where damage/deterioration is observed in <br />accordance with Section 024110 and Section 061140. <br /> <br />d. Provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other services as needed to accomplish <br />disconnection, reconnection, modification, recharging, or extension of utility or control services <br />(including ductwork) at any roof-mounted equipment associated with lifting/raising or modifying <br />to accept the new roof system. Coordinate with the facility maintenance staff to schedule temporary <br />shutdown of the units and to prevent damage to the units. Upon completion of work confirm proper <br />working order with the Owner. <br /> <br />E. Protect components that will remain for reuse, including, but not limited to, existing plywood and <br />blocking, membrane, roof deck and structure, exterior walls, pipe vents, and downspout boot <br />connections to underground drainage lines, etc. during removal of the required system components. <br /> <br />F.
