The unit is struggling to provide
cooling to keep up with the current building load and we have two temporary HVAC units currently installed to assist.
The control board inside the unit has malfunctioned, and to replace the control board is very expensive, considering the
age of the unit and the other components that are also aging. We have funding of $176k in the CIP to replace the two
units on the Gateway building, however, due to the current costs increases there is only f unding available to replace one
unit.

With all that being said, we have received two quotes to replace the one unit that is failing, and I am requesting
emergency approval to proceed with the lowest bidder to replace the one RTU. The lowest bidder is at $138,110 and the
unit lead time is 26+ weeks. In order to hold the pricing we need to get this unit order ASAP.

Will you approve for us to proceed under an emergency authorization to order the unit for replacement?

Thank You,

Angel

Angel Barnes | Capital Projects Manager | Orange County Asset Management Services | 300 West Tryon Street | Bldg B 3 rd Floor
Office 10 | Hillsborough, NC 27278 | (919) 245.2628 (direct) | (919) 610.8182 (mobile) | www.orangecountync.gov

CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: All email messages, including any attachments, generated from or received by this account are the property of
the Orange County Government and as such are considered public domain and are subject to the North Carolina Public Records
DocuSign Envelope ID: 204A9DB5-F9C0-4047-9975-403E84805378
