P a g e 24 o f 2 3
Criterion 7 - Time to Complete
Submission Guidance

38. How much time will your
project require to demonstrate
the positive impacts you
describe?
The decision to install Solarban 70 will produce savings
immediately. Because of the exceptional solar control
characteristics of Solarban 70 glass, smaller HVAC systems are
appropriate for buildings glazed with this product. Consequently,
TAC could see a significant reduction in the associated up-front
capital outlay in the HVAC equipment. Once occupying the space
in the winter of 2023, this product will immediately begin
reducing the cooling load and greenhouse emissions in
comparison with similar buildings not using Solarban 70. When
installed correctly, this product will withstand most weather and
is built to survive the life of the building.

The impact of the LED lighting and controls project will be
immediate. The energy efficiency of the lighting and sensors will
impact the usage of energy from moment the building is
completed, and power is engaged.

Installing automatic roller shades will have an immediate impact
on the efficiency of the new ArtsCenter. Once the shades are
installed, The ArtsCenter will see a decrease in energy
requirements.

As a dense and vibrant downtown, Carrboro has the reputation
of a community that enjoys the opportunity to bike and walk to
points of interest. Carrboro is also a community that puts value in
environmental initiatives. Therefore, this project will begin
demonstrating the positive impact upon completion of the
building in spring of 2023.

Applications are to be submitted as email attachments to Orange County Sustainability Coordinator,
Brennan Bouma at bbouma@orangecountync.gov. Please also CC the lead staff member supporting the
Commission of the Environment, Wesley Poole at wpoole@orangecountync.gov.
DocuSign Envelope ID: FC54AC26-7897-4270-8EA1-D754CD59EA76
