P a g e 22 o f 2 3
Criterion 6 - Amount and Duration of Engagement

35. Please describe how you will
engage with and/or educate
project participants.
As the largest non-profit arts organization in Orange County, The
ArtsCenter holds a responsibility to serve as an example, not only
for small organizations but also for similar ones in the region.
With this opportunity to create a cutting edge and inclusive
community center, The ArtsCenter must share the process and
successes of creating an environmentally responsible center. The
designs and progress of the building will be tracked on TAC’s
website. TAC will continue to hold forums and engagements with
the community to share the progress and fine tune the plans for
the new building. During these meetings, the plans to reduce the
organization’s carbon footprint will be shared. Patrons of TAC will
be inspired to bring more green elements into their homes as
they learn of the impact of these initiatives. Other like-minded
organizations will have a source of inspiration to build upon with
their own green projects. Upon completion of the building,
statements can be placed throughout the building, educating
patrons on the green initiatives adopted as part of the new
ArtsCenter.

Regarding the lighting elements of this project, inviting patrons to
consider how lighting plays an important role in how they
respond to architecture. Lighting can bring an emotional value to
a building– it helps create an experience for those who occupy
the space. Whether it’s daylighting or artificial lighting, light
draws attention to textures, colors, and forms of a space. Vision
is the single most important sense through which people enjoy
architecture, and lighting enhances the way they perceive spaces.
TAC can educate their patrons on how the roller shades use
smart technology to react to the presence of heat producing
light. Education the public about the choice of lighting is
important. Not only will this proposed lighting save energy, it will
create a more welcoming building and can lead to the general
public incorporating this type of smart technology in their homes.

Regarding the proposed bike racks and charging stations, the
community will be encouraged to use environmentally
responsible travel modes to arrive at The ArtsCenter through
both their website and through word of mouth. Directly on bus
lines, the location will be shared through the transit companies’
publications and websites. TAC will post on their website, the
availability of EV charging and bike charging as well as the ample
supply of bike racks.
DocuSign Envelope ID: FC54AC26-7897-4270-8EA1-D754CD59EA76
