Through these
local engagements, TAC is expanding their list of community leaders
who can help engage residents in order to create a more inclusive and
impactful ArtsCenter.
18. During and after the
project, what will your
continued engagement
with the community be?
This new ArtsCenter provides the organization an opportunity to
flourish as a community center for the arts. Already, TAC is seen as a
hub for Orange County to experience the arts. The new location is on a
major thoroughfare and is wholly TAC’s space rather than a limited
footprint within a commercial complex. An exciting aspect of the new
location is that it is next door to a historically black neighborhood as
well as a low-income neighborhood that is the heart of Carrboro’s
Latinx community. This new site enables The ArtsCenter to create a
stronger bond with both the African American community as well as the
Latinx community as TAC practices the principles of diversity and
inclusion that are essential to the work they do every day. The new
location, on a major bus line and a highway linking Chatham, Orange
and Durham counties, is convenient for programming, attracting
participants from around the region. TAC’s programs currently attract
audience from all counties in North Carolina and beyond, and this new
venue will enhance TAC’s ability to be a regional center for participating
and building skills for artists of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
DocuSign Envelope ID: FC54AC26-7897-4270-8EA1-D754CD59EA76
