This p ocess <br /> can assist ju isdictions in c eating an engagement p ocess that cente s equity and hono s the wealth of <br /> knowledge in each ju isdiction. Community engagement p ovides an oppo tunity to epai o eplicate <br /> ha m and to build elationships and community. Fo all community membe s, each inte action and each <br /> engagement cont ibute to the expe ience of thei elationship with the gove nment. Ou focus on acial <br /> equity acknowledges that inte actions and lack of engagement have histo ically led to dispa ate <br /> outcomes fo communities of colo . Community engagement fulfills the social justice maxim, "Nothing <br /> About Us,Without Us," and inc eases the likelihood of community buy-in du ing implementation. <br /> GARE also suggests p oviding a fo m of eimbu sement fo thei time and expe tine — not as an incentive <br /> but as compensation. Ju isdictions a e encou aged to explo e community engagement compensations <br /> st ategies, begin piloting the 3-Step Community Engagement P ocess and p ovide feedback as we <br /> continue to efine the One O ange Community Engagement St ategy. <br /> The One O ange Racial Equity F amewo k equi es a p agmatic app oach info med by the analysis acially <br /> disagg egated data f om the Racial Equity Index cove ed in the next section of this epo t, coupled with <br /> the info mation lea ned th ough community engagement. <br /> Pillar 3—Racial Equity Ind x <br /> The ove all goal of this pilla is to develop an index depicting the co elations of key indicato s to p edict <br /> outcomes and impacts on acial dispa ity in identified a eas such as income, education and health in the <br /> county and ju isdictions. The use of data and analytics is integ al to the wo k of GARE to p esent a <br /> desc iptive pictu e of whe e the county and municipalities a e cu ently in acial equity wo k, and to <br /> t ack p og ess ove time. <br /> The fi st wo k delive able will be developing an ove view of available elevant data and o ganizing it into <br /> a use -f iendly public-facing web page. Some of this wo k is anticipated to build on cu ent <br /> inte gove nmental wo k being completed th ough Ca olina Demog aphy. <br /> The second delive able will be an analysis of the county wo kfo ce data utilizing the SAS modeling. Afte <br /> this pilot, a decision will be made about the platfo m to use fo futu e index wo k. <br />
