Please describe any other <br />relevant expertise or capacity <br />to carry out the project in your <br />application: <br />The Town and the County have been working collaboratively to <br />reduce waste for decades. The Town plans to launch sales of <br />backyard composting bins and kitchen collection bins later this <br />year, along with an educational composting video and other <br />outreach. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Criterion 5 - Local Economic Development <br /> <br />32. How many Orange County <br />residents are employed by <br />your organization? <br />There are currently 146 Town employees who live in Orange <br />County (85 permanent and 61 part-time temporary). <br />33. What percent of project <br />materials will be purchased <br />from sources within Orange <br />County or North Carolina? <br />The funding will be used to hire a part-time staff member; no <br />materials will be purchased. <br />34. Please describe any other <br />aspect of your project that is <br />relevant to local economic <br />development. <br />The Town plans to help incentivize composting through a new <br />program in development to recognize climate-friendly <br />businesses. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Criterion 6 - Amount and Duration of Engagement <br /> <br />35. Please describe how you will <br />engage with and/or educate <br />project participants. <br />Orange County Solid Waste Management plans to develop <br />specific education and outreach activities that integrate with the <br />food waste collection service. The County’s Solid Waste and <br />Recycling Education and Outreach coordinator will provide <br />these activities on-site during select weeks of the Farmers’ <br />Market. <br />Orange County Solid Waste Management would like to <br />coordinate development and conduct of these activities with the <br />Town and the Farmers’ Market in order to achieve their <br />maximum potential in educating and motivating the community <br />about organics waste management, waste reduction, and <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 925D6FBC-24A8-425B-8158-E760CA6EAD2A
