P a g e 13 o f 19

22. Please describe the location of
the emissions reduction.
Where would fossil fuels have
been burned if not for your
project? For projects creating
electricity usage reductions, it
can be difficult to determine
the location of the power
produced. Please feel free to
state “Grid-tied electricity
reduction”
Without the composting program, much of the food waste would
be thrown into the waste stream. Fossil fuels would be burned
during waste collection from residences and commercial sites
and also during transport of the garbage to a transfer station in
Durham, NC, a 44-mile round-trip. Fossil fuels are also burned
as the waste is transported from the transfer station to the
Sampson County Disposal landfill in Roseboro, NC, a 195-mile
round-trip. The food waste would then release methane as it
decomposes in the landfill.
23. Please describe any other
aspect of your project that is
relevant to the amount of
emissions that it will reduce or
avoid.

Criterion 3 - Efficient use of Funds
1. Please estimate the impact of your project per grant dollar requested.
This cost per unit of impact must reflect the total program budget divided by the total impact of the
project described in this application. If the proposed project is new, please write N/A in the first
column of the table below, and just fill out the second column.

Actual Annual Project
Costs
(If your proposed project
expands or accelerates an
ongoing effort)
Projected Project Costs
Total Cost of Project
N/A, the staff member
will be a new expense for
the Town in an existing
program
$3,765.00
Unit of Impact:
Total # of tons of greenhouse gases reduced
N/A, the staff member
will be a new expense for
the Town in an existing
program
44.27 metric tons CO2e
/year
Cost Per Ton of GHG’s Reduced
N/A, the staff member
will be a new expense for
the Town in an existing
program
$85.05
Unit of Impact:
Total # of individuals served/benefitted
N/A, the staff member
will be a new expense for
the Town in an existing
program
8,840 individuals/year
Cost Per Individual Served/Benefitted
N/A, the staff member
will be a new expense for
the Town in an existing
program
$0.43
Other Unit of Impact: Please describe here
DocuSign Envelope ID: 925D6FBC-24A8-425B-8158-E760CA6EAD2A
