Participants can bring all food scraps for collection, including
those which are not recommended for backyard compost. The organic waste is collected weekly by Brooks
Contractors, a local commercial composting company.
The food waste collection program requires a monitor who sets up the collection station, changes out full
bins, counts patrons, helps avoid bin contamination, and provides guidance to program participants.
Funding will be used to pay a part-time staff member to perform these duties. This program helps the Town
fulfill Ecosystem Recommendation #3 in its 2017 Community Climate Action Plan, which directs staff to
accelerate efforts to study and implement a comprehensive organics collection and composting program.
The program will also help the Town reach its greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal of an 80%
reduction in 2010 emissions levels by 2030.
DocuSign Envelope ID: 925D6FBC-24A8-425B-8158-E760CA6EAD2A
