This Act included funding opportunities to improve <br /> local emergency preparedness capabilities. North Carolina Emergency Management used these <br /> funds to establish the Capacity Building Competitive Grant (CBCG) for county emergency <br /> management agencies. <br /> The Emergency Management Division of Orange County Emergency Services submitted a grant <br /> application for$335,000 to purchase and fully equip a mobile command trailer. A mobile command <br /> trailer is a portable trailer with built-in workspaces, radios, and equipment for incident command <br /> staff and first responders to manage long duration emergencies in harsh or austere outdoor <br /> conditions. The grant application was approved in full. No local match of funds or cost share is <br /> required. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The total amount of grant funding awarded to Orange County is $335,000. <br /> There is no local match of funds or cost share required for this grant. Orange County would be <br /> responsible for all future maintenance and servicing of both the trailer itself and any associated <br /> mobile command trailer equipment. The Emergency Management Division will request a slight <br /> increase ($1,000) to future operational budgets to cover these costs. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to <br /> this item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang <br /> activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br />
