10 <br /> 1 Commissioner Fowler read the following proclamation: <br /> 2 <br /> 3 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 4 <br /> 5 PROCLAMATION <br /> 6 <br /> 7 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br /> 8 <br /> 9 MAY 15-21, 2022 <br /> 10 <br /> 11 WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service; and <br /> 12 <br /> 13 WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are ready to provide lifesaving <br /> 14 care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and <br /> 15 <br /> 16 WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery <br /> 17 rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and <br /> 18 <br /> 19 WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of emergency physicians, <br /> 20 emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, <br /> 21 telecommunicators, educators, administrators and others; and <br /> 22 <br /> 23 WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether career or volunteer, <br /> 24 engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their <br /> 25 lifesaving skills; and <br /> 26 <br /> 27 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency <br /> 28 medical services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week; <br /> 29 <br /> 30 NOW THEREFORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim the <br /> 31 week of May 15-21, 2022, as <br /> 32 <br /> 33 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br /> 34 <br /> 35 With the theme, "EMS: Rising to the Challenge," and encourage the community to observe this <br /> 36 week with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 This the 3rd day of May, 2022. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Renee Price, Chair <br /> 42 Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> 43 <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Laura Jensen <br /> 46 Clerk to the Board <br /> 47 <br /> 48 A motion was made by Commissioner Fowler, seconded by Commissioner Bedford, to <br /> 49 approve the proclamation and authorize the Chair to sign it. <br /> 50 <br /> 51 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />
