4 <br /> 1 resilient Orange County; and <br /> 2 <br /> 3 WHEREAS, William Blankenship is retiring from the Chapel Hill Fire Department after serving <br /> 4 the residents and visitors of Orange County for twenty-nine years; <br /> 5 <br /> 6 NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby recognize <br /> 7 and express deep appreciation for the invaluable service of William Blankenship to the Orange <br /> 8 County community, and wish him well in his retirement. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 This the 3rd day of May, 2022. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Renee Price, Chair <br /> 15 Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> 16 <br /> 17 A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Bedford, to <br /> 18 approve the Proclamation and authorize the Chair to sign it. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 21 <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Commissioner Hamilton read the following proclamation: <br /> 24 <br /> 25 PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING AND HONORING <br /> 26 DAVID CHEEK <br /> 27 RETIRING CAPTAIN, CHAPEL HILL FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> 28 <br /> 29 <br /> 30 WHEREAS, in 2001, Mr. David Cheek embarked on a career of public service by joining the <br /> 31 Chapel Hill Fire Department as a full-time firefighter; and <br /> 32 <br /> 33 WHEREAS, Mr. Cheek made numerous contributions to the Chapel Hill Fire Department and <br /> 34 ultimately reached the rank of Captain; and <br /> 35 <br /> 36 WHEREAS, throughout his professional career, David Cheek helped advance the Chapel Hill <br /> 37 Fire Department by serving in a variety of roles including Firefighter Lieutenant, and ultimately <br /> 38 as a Captain; and <br /> 39 <br /> 40 WHEREAS, through his dedication and service to the residents of Chapel Hill and the greater <br /> 41 Orange County community, Mr. Cheek directly contributed to creating a safer and more resilient <br /> 42 Orange County; and <br /> 43 <br /> 44 WHEREAS, David Cheek is retiring from the Chapel Hill Fire Department after serving the <br /> 45 residents and visitors of Orange County for twenty-two years; <br /> 46 <br /> 47 NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby recognize <br /> 48 and express deep appreciation for the invaluable service of David Cheek to the Orange County <br /> 49 community, and wish him well in his retirement. <br /> 50 <br />
