This is the
second MAP based on the WHO/ AARP Framework for an Age-Friendly Community
(AFC). The AFC framework contains 8 domains of livability that influence the quality
of life for older adults:
• Outdoor spaces and buildings
• Transportation
• Housing
• Social participation
• Respect and social inclusion
• Civic participation and employment
• Community support and health services
• Communication and information
In addition to these domains several cross cutting issues were addressed throughout
the MAP process. Those included:
• Racial equity and the diversity of the older adult population
• Urban/rural differences
• On-going concerns related to the global pandemic, including social isolation
• Desire of the older adults in our community to be included in all solutions
Visit us online @ www.orangecountync.gov/departments/aging
Like us on Facebook @ www.facebook.com/OrangeCountyDepartmentOnAging
