26. Does your project also take
advantage of other funding
sources?
NCSEA will use $10,000 of support from Coastal Credit Union towards
the creation of educational materials that raise awareness of energy
efficiency/conservation and how these behaviors lead to improved
standards of living and stronger communities.

27. Would your proposed project
help you to take advantage of
funding from other sources
besides this grant in the future?
NCSEA receives funding from multiple sources that prioritize energy
equity and community engagement. Carrying out this work also helps our
organization carry out our overall mission of making clean energy more
accessible and affordable for all North Carolinians. This project would
allow NCSEA to report on more efforts focused on energy equity to our
funders and will increase chances of receiving their continued support.
28. Please describe any other
aspect of your project that is
relevant to the efficient use of
grant funds:
The project team contains several members who have a long history of
working together on energy equity-focused projects, thus avoiding the
learning curves of building rapport and learning other’s practices. Also,
NCSEA already has established some energy conservation resources that
can be used for the project. Thirdly, many practices in this project have
already been implemented and proven in other projects (i.e. collecting
data to identify homes with highest energy intensity)

ERS plans to buy materials in Orange County, saving transportation costs
and supporting the county’s local economy.

Enpira’s software is sophisticated in that it incorporates industry -standard
measurement and verification (M&V) protocols, involves complex
statistical analysis and is able to generate real-time compelling graphs
and visuals that display energy usage trends.

Because of NCSEA’s collaboration with community partners statewide,
we have access to valuable energy efficiency-related data that can be
useful for comparing the impacts of different programs. For example,
NCSEA has access to AR4CA, the administrative software for NCWAP
that contains weatherization and home-related data on projects carried out
across the state. NCSEA and Enpira are currently using this data, along
with energy usage data, to quantify the impacts of weatherization services
and make best practice recommendations to NCWAP.

Criterion 4 - Capacity of Applicant

29. Please describe any projects
that you have completed
successfully in the past which
are similar to the project you
are proposing:
Key members of the project team, including NCSEA, ERS and Enpira,
worked together as part of a residential energy conservation program at
N.C. State University Extension. This program focused on:

- Installing retrofits in homes throughout the state
- Organizing and leading energy conservation community
workshops
- Creating educational material for residents
- Working with contractors to ensure retrofits were properly
installed
DocuSign Envelope ID: 05316BF7-95C7-4D54-82D9-7EBD5926DA4D
