If not, please
describe your plan to engage
with them and how you will act
based on their input:
Tamara has already engaged with 25 members of her neighborhood and
overall has received strong interest from the neighborhood to get
involved with a community energy efficiency program. She has also
provided them with an idea of the time and effort involved, although this
will be illustrated more clearly to the neighborhood upon launch of the
project.
This project focuses on placing as little lift in terms of time and cost on
the resident as possible. The retrofits will be completely free of charge
and the small amount of time required from the resident is to be present
in the house during the installation of the retrofit.

18. During and after the project,
what will your continued
engagement with the
community be?
Throughout the project, the project team (particularly the community
organizer) will carry out regular outreach to inform residents about the
retrofit application process, energy education resources, community
events, benefits of energy usage reduction and answer any que stions that
residents have about the program. The project team will also maintain
regular contact with the community groups for discussions on future
collaboration opportunities to continue promoting energy conservation in
Orange County.
After retrofits are installed, the team will monitor energy usage up to one
year after retrofit to measure the impact. The community organizer will
also continue to make residents aware of the projects energy conservation
materials that are available to them.
The project team will conduct a survey for homes that receive a retrofit.
This survey will be sent 6 months after the retrofit and will ask about
health related benefits, overall satisfaction, and other benefits of energy
efficiency. For example, one question may be: "After the work was done,
did you set your thermostat differently to be comfortable?" While the
energy data analysis will provide the project team with significant insight
on impacts, the survey will provide further insight from the resident
perspective that can guide program design going forward.

19. Please describe any other
aspect of your project that is
relevant to Social Justice and
Racial Equity:
As mentioned in Question 15, this project was initiated out of the
Alabama/Davie Rd neighborhood that seeks to positively build on a
successful collective effort to halt a discount chain store back in 2012.
● INDY Week: Carrboro residents fighting Family Dollar discount
store
● INDY Week: Carrboro Family Dollar hits another snag
The success of this model very much depends on the social network that
exists in these small communities. The means of engagement has been
and will continue to be in a manner that works for each individual
resident. Furthermore, this project has the potential to bolster a
community that is not served by a traditional homeowners’ association
(HOA) and can set a model that can be replicated for neighborhoods of
similar structure and demographics.

DocuSign Envelope ID: 05316BF7-95C7-4D54-82D9-7EBD5926DA4D
