Easley has proclaimed the week of March 10-16, 2002 <br /> as Severe Weather Awareness Week. A statewide tornado drill will be held on March 13, 2002. <br /> The drill consists of practice watches and warnings being issued by the National Weather <br /> Service and broadcast to the public over radio and television stations. The purpose of the drill <br /> is to heighten citizen awareness and allow their participation by practicing movements to safe <br /> areas in their home or office. All county schools typically exercise their tornado plans during <br /> this period. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the proclamation <br /> designating the week of March 10-16, 2002, as Severe Weather Awareness Week in Orange <br /> County, and encourage citizens to learn more about tornadoes. <br />
