16 <br />GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION OF ZONING VIOLATIONS: <br />Zoning violations occur in all areas of the County with no area immune to any type of violation. <br />There are currently approximately one hundred sixty (160) active zoning cases being pursued by <br />the Zoning Enforcement Officer, with the majority of these cases being over one (1) year old, <br />This lag in enforcement is due to the fact that there have been several vacancies in the <br />enforcement officers' position since 2002. This fact has meant that it has been difficult for the <br />Planning Department to establish a more forma] and rigorous enforcement program to address <br />local citizens concerns, <br />The existing code enforcement case load is distributed in the seven (7) townships as follows: <br />Little River: Nineteen (19) zoning enforcement violations being pursued by the <br />enforcement officer representing approximately twelve percent (12%) of the <br />total number of active cases <br />Type of Violations: Ten (10),junked car violations, three (3) outdoor storage <br />violations, four (4) illegally located signs, and two (2) encroachment issues. <br />Cedar Grove: Twenty-two (22) zoning enforcement violations being pursued by the <br />enforcement officer representing approximately fourteen percent (14%) of the <br />total number of active cases <br />Type of Violations: Fifteen (15) junked car violations with three (3) <br />properties being classified as major ,junkyards, four (4) outdoor storage <br />violations, one (1) landfill violation, and two (2) land use violations (i.e. <br />property owner began a land disturbing/construction activity without property <br />pernrits). <br />Cheeks: Fifty-four (54) zoning enforcement violations being pursued by the <br />enforcement officer representing approximately thirty-four percent (.34%) of <br />the total number of active cases <br />Type of Violations: Thirty (30) junked caz violations with three (3) <br />properties being classified as major junkyards, three (3) stream buffer <br />violations, eight (8) illegally located signs, six (6) outdoor storage violations, <br />four (4) landfill violations, and three (3) land use violations (i,e. property <br />owner began a land disturbing/construction activity without property permits). <br />Hillsborough: Nine (9) zoning enforcement violations being pursued by the enforcement <br />officer representing approximately six percent (6%) of the total number of <br />active cases <br />Type of Violations: Three (3) junked caz violations, four (4) outdoor storage <br />violations, and two (2) on-going land use violations (i,e, development of <br />property that exceeded original Zoning Compliance Permit provisions), <br />Eno: Twenty-two (22) zoning enforcement violations being pursued by the <br />enforcement officer representing approximately thirteen percent (13%) of the <br />total number of active cases <br />Type of Violations: Six (6) junked car violations, two (2) outdoor storage <br />violations, seven (7) illegally located signs, one (1) landfill violation, two (2) <br />
