Applicant organization’s <br />Purpose/Mission (2-4 sentences): <br />Eno River Farmers’ Market (“ERFM”) is a not-for-profit <br />membership organization that operates in Orange County <br />NC. ERFM provides local farmers and farm-related artisans and <br />craftspeople the opportunity to sell goods and services directly to <br />the citizens of Hillsborough and the greater Orange County area. <br />The farmers, artisans and craftspeople seek to create a friendly, <br />open market and an enjoyable destination for the community to <br />meet, to purchase farm and farm-related goods and services and to <br />learn about farming, food and food production. ERFM’s success will <br />be apparent by its impact on the local agricultural economy, the <br />wholesome fruits, vegetables and agricultural products available to <br />the community, and the increased understanding of farming, <br />healthy foods and local food production and consumption. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />3. Please provide a brief description <br />of your organization’s past <br />achievements in carrying out <br />similar projects and evidence of <br />successful record of meeting <br />proposed budgets and <br />timetables (2-4 sentences): <br />The ERFM is in its thirteenth year of existence. We are in our <br />second year of a Blue Cross funded, RAFI administered, grant <br />program to assist people with food insecurity to obtain wholesome <br />fresh food. We pay our taxes, comply with federal, state, county, <br />and town (of Hillsborough) requirements and are a well-regarded <br />part of the Hillsborough and Orange County community <br />landscape. We have through the years conducted multiple fund- <br />raising events that entailed borrowed equipment, facilities rentals, <br />significant set-up, tear-down, and clean-up requirements, and <br />approval by local police, and the state alcohol licensing board, <br />without significant issues with vendors, customers, or regulatory <br />bodies. <br /> <br /> <br />4. Living Wage: Does this <br />organization pay permanent <br />employees a minimum living <br />wage? (Yes / No) <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Yes <br />If yes, is this <br />organization an <br />Orange County <br />Living Wage <br />Certified Employer? <br />(Yes / No) <br />No, the ERFM has <br />only 1099 workers <br />who are exempt <br />from the OC Living <br />Wage Certification <br />criteria, but we are <br />looking into the <br />certification and <br />plan to obtain it in <br />the future. <br /> If no, please briefly <br />explain. <br />5.
