Develop a bus shuttle system between schools for major traffic generation events <br />(i. e. sports events, open houses, opportunity to attend public hearings, etc.) For <br />example, schools of intro-county games would provide a visitors bus from their <br />local area to the away game thereby reducing the parking demand at the host <br />school. <br />6. Evaluate student vehicle privilege policy to reduce VMT. Develop student <br />parking system and fee schedule to help pa,y for casts of mass transit. <br />Evaluate purpose ofoff-campus student vehicle trips and determine if on-campus <br />services can be provided. <br />8. Coordinate with NCDOT and Town of Carrboro road improvements on Smith <br />Level Road and intersection improvements at Rack Haven Road. Support Town <br />of Carrboro resolution to ensure road improvements are outside of University <br />Lake Watershed. <br />D. TECHNOLOGY/INNOVATIONZ <br />`Distance learning' is an important method to reduce offsite traffic. Technology ran offer <br />access to information without driving. <br />Develop a video learning and conference center on campus with remote <br />locations in bath districts to permit specialized classes to be interactively <br />broadcast to other locations, This will reduce student travel needs to other <br />locations and efficiently permit the access to specialized learning to a larger <br />number of students. Thfs also could enhance equity in educational curriculum <br />and opportunity. These `magnet' courses could be shared by bath districts. <br />II. ENVIRONMENT AND AIR QUALITY <br />Schools can be the leader in environmental sustainability and proactively create a model far <br />future generations to understand and perpetuate. <br />A. STORMWATER/WATER QUALITY <br />a. Construct primary starmwafer detention systems as bio-retention areas, <br />and <br />b. Use same as a water quality education element with a brochure explaining <br />purpose and benefit. <br />2. Add groundwater monitoring wells and stream flow monitors. <br />3. Add stormwater discharge flow monitors. <br />B.
