She announced that the <br /> 6 Orange County 4-H is having an awards program on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 4. Proclamations/ Resolutions/ Special Presentations <br /> 9 a. Recognition of Craig Benedict, Retiring Orange County Planning & Inspections <br /> 10 Director <br /> 11 The Board expressed gratitude to Craig Benedict, retiring Orange County Planning & <br /> 12 Inspections Director, for his devotion and service to Orange County. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 BACKGROUND: After 23 years of dedicated service to the Orange County community, Craig <br /> 15 Benedict is retiring on April 1, 2022. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Craig Benedict began his career of service with Orange County as Planning & Inspections <br /> 18 Director in 1999. Mr. Benedict worked closely with the Orange County Planning Board and <br /> 19 Board of Commissioners on a multitude of issues, projects and initiatives. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 The Board of Commissioners expresses its appreciation to Mr. Benedict for his devotion and <br /> 22 service to Orange County residents, Orange County government, and the Board of <br /> 23 Commissioners. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Chair Price read the following letter of recognition honoring Mr. Benedict: <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> 28 Post Office Box 8181 <br /> 29 300 West Tryon Street <br /> 30 Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 March 15, 2022 <br /> 33 <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Dear Mr. Benedict, <br /> 36 <br /> 37 With this letter, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners does hereby acknowledge <br /> 38 the dedication and service you have given to Orange County since your hire as Director of <br /> 39 Planning and Inspections on March 1, 1999. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 During your time with Orange County, you worked on a variety of different projects and <br /> 42 initiatives that improved the Planning and Inspections department and advanced many goals of <br /> 43 the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). You actively participated in and provided your <br /> 44 expert guidance to the advisory board for your department, the Planning Board. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 You also provided guidance to many Commissioners and provided numerous presentations to <br /> 47 help the BOCC understand the complex issues that were brought before them.
