Kim Lamon-Loperfido, Aging Transitions <br /> Administrator, Orange County Department on Aging. <br /> How many times per month does this board/commission meet, including any special <br /> meetings and sub-committee meetings? Business meetings are scheduled for four <br /> times per year. Four visits per year from sub-committee members to each of the <br /> five nursing homes in Orange County. However, due to the pandemic the <br /> committee has not met in 2021 and no visits were made to facilities. While the <br /> committee is still not permitted to do visits by the State Ombudsmen's Office at <br /> DHHS, the committee plans to begin meeting quarterly in 2022. Autumn Cox <br /> (Regional Ombudsman) has been permitted to enter the Long-Term Care facilities <br /> since the pandemic. She is visiting the facilities at a minimum of quarterly. These <br /> visits are unannounced and could be a routine advocacy visit or a complaint visit <br /> at the request of a resident or their family. She has kept the committee up to date <br /> as much as possible on the things she is seeing in the facilities, staffing changes, <br /> and DHSR State Survey results, as they are available. Some facilities have also <br /> requested Resident's Rights in-services for staff during this year. <br /> Brief Statement of Board/Commission's Assigned Charge and Responsibilities. <br /> • Stay informed about living conditions and quality of life for residents living in <br /> nursing homes. <br /> • Raise awareness about residents' rights issues and with the Ombudsman <br /> assist persons with grievance resolution. <br /> • Make official unannounced quarterly visits to each nursing home. <br /> • Prepare and submit official reports on visits to nursing homes. Approved <br /> reports are posted on the county website. <br />
